Events Volunteer (Manchester Half Marathon Cheer Point Volunteers - Sunday 13th October 2024)

We're on the lookout for passionate volunteers to join us at Manchester Half Marathon on Sunday 13th October 2024. You will be supporting Michael Beynon at the end of his incredible 100km challenge.

As a volunteer on the day you’ll be part of an amazing atmosphere and will support Mencap to make change through raising funds or engaging with your local community.

Our cheer point is located outside The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints around mile 5 of the route. We are aiming to position ourselves near the green railings with our backs to the church as the runners run past us. The post code of the church is M32 0DW to help aid you finding our cheer point. You'll be part of a diverse and inclusive team alongside volunteers with and without a learning disability. You will represent Mencap and help to promote our work and raise awareness for people with a learning disability at this iconic event in Manchester.

  • Willing to volunteer within guidelines and to take direction where necessary
  • Accepting of others who might be different to yourself

As a Mencap volunteer you will:

  • Make new friends
  • Receive agreed out of pocket expenses in line with our policy e.g. travel
  • Receive a full volunteer briefing and training on the day
  • Volunteer alongside our experienced
  • Have a chance to give back your local community
